World-Premiere Performance

Mosesian Center for the Arts, Watertown, MA
An operatic adaptation of Antonio Buero Vallejo’s classic anti-fascist play. En la ardiente oscuridad (In the burning darkness) was originally written in 1947, under the regime of Francisco Franco. Buero Vallejo had been a political prisoner from 2939-1945, and upon his release, he committed his life to creating dramatic works focused on themes of fascism, power, and the plight of the individual under an oppressive government. En la ardiente oscuridad draws on these themes in a thrilling psychological drama.
